Mr. Alan,
What a pleasure to be invited to walk through your pipe collection. Isn’t it wonderful how a pipe or even a collection of pipes can just naturally make us want to set and relish in memory each one has to offer. I think it’s wonderful thing pipes are. Much like music or the smell of certain things, they can transport us to a different time and place, or the memories of special friendships.
I think it’s safe to say we all wait in anticipation for the next video to appear that transports is for a brief moment in time away from the hustle of everyday life.
Best regards

Professor Harrelson,
I have a suggestion. Could you walk us through your library? I think that would be even more enjoyable than the pipe collection! Courtesy of you, I finally read Foote’s massive trilogy this last year and have been reveling in Berry’s books (think I’ve read half a dozen of them in the last month). When you did your videos in South Carolina, I loved the sight of the books in the background and was pleased to note how many volumes we share in common.
I know a library is an intensely personal work of art, much like a garden. But, also much like a garden, others derive pleasure from seeing it! Mine is about 1, 500 volumes (actual books would be up in the 2,000 range since so many of the volumes contain more than one book) and, being a Literature and History teacher myself, I think a video of yours may very well do for others what your pipes and books videos have done for me. Just a thought. Obviously, you wouldn’t be pulling them all off the shelf and explaining so much about them. But you could occasionally pull a special one out and introduce it to your audience.
Best regards,
Jeremiah -

Hey Alan! Thanks for showing the collection.
The only Christmas pipe I have so far, is a Peterson 2022.
I’m not all that fond of it, but there was so many I could have chosen, other than this one.
Maybe I will buy a Boswell Christmas 2023 this year. Have a great day -
Thanks a lot for your pipes !!! I have heard you saying about Virginia tobacco that you used to keep it in a ball with rum !!! I’ll be very happy , very happy to know about that 6 months of succulent blend of rum with Virginia tobacco !!!
Many thanks for your answer ! @lex -
I guess Milan’s Tobacconist in Roanoke doesn’t have “Colonial Pastime” anymore. I couldn’t find it on the website.

Brother Alan, we are having SO much fun watching you share your beautiful Pipe Collection. You are a reflection of a ‘gentleman’s, gentleman’ and it shows in your excellent taste in pipes in addition to the ‘salt and light’ that you bring to this classic hobby and our world. Thanks.

I’ve never bought a Christmas pipe before, may have to keep an eye out for one this season! Thanks for opening up your collection and sharing them with the community. That Mark Tinsky pipe is very neat, too, I love the band designs on it.
